The use of aspherical elements in the front group reduces the number of elements required, and the incorporation of durable engineering plastic in the barrel makes the body extremely strong and light.
This 70-300mm lens is a lightweight, compact, high-image-quality telephoto zoom lens with macro capability of 1:2 that can be used with digital cameras. This lens features an optical system with an improved multi-coating designed to function with digital SLR cameras as well as film cameras. Flipping a macro switch in the focal length range of 180-300mm obtains a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2 at a minimum focus distance as short as 37.4", enabling close-up shots of flowers, insects, and other objects. I have not made many purchase online. In fact none til now. Thanks to Amazon and Tamron for a very enjoyable expierance. My Wife says that the products are all professional grade. I guess I did something right this time in trusting the two involed with the purchase. Thank you both. At a price I could afford on top of it. My Wife thanks you too very much. As I bought for her. She is the camera person of the house. The camera and lens were bought in case we couldn't fix or replace the lens I broke on our 35mm Pentax Lens that I broke.

I use these when I'm in a situation where I don't want to loose serious money if something goes wrong. Taking pictures on a roller coaster and other crazy stuff I like to do. The macro on the 300 works well and the 80 does what it needs to do for me as well...work.
