This adapter accuratey addresses one of the two drawdacks of the HDR-FX7 Camcorder. The fixed mount lens and the lack of balanced external audio inputs. At 0.8x maginification the adapter gives me just enough more wide angle I need and without significant distortion(s) or loss. It is quick and easy to attach and stow but the original "matte box"/cap must be removed and does not attach to the adapter (though if it did, it would probably cause some vignette). As for the audio, I built my own adapter allowing independent channels for both dynamic and condenser microphones.
