Satisfactory mega-zoom. Image quality is not perfect but adequate. Lens body does not come across as professional quality (zoom is sloppy). Manual focus only. Teleconverter is not that great. Works better with teleconverters that are not the same as the one supplied with the lens. For the money, it is hard to beat if you want a mega-zoom lens.

This lens has a phenomenal range, so much so that you may find yourself looking into haze unless it is an absolutely clear day. Focus is manual, as you'd expect on something this size. Exposure is another thing. You really have to bracket your exposures to get the right shot, which in the digital age is no big deal. You're unlikely to get a better deal on such a large telephoto lens, but quality-wise you get what you pay for; good but not great.

The lens is good. The problem I had was that there were no directions on how to use this lens. It took me a while to figure all this out. I would highly recommend some directions, and accessories for using the lens. If you plan to use it, make sure you have a second tripod to hold the camera steady.
