I spent days looking for a tripod to use with my new Nikon D80 SLR that would be small enough for world travel but reliable enough for solid shooting even with a 300mm zoom, and this baby did it for me! I seldom can see myself encountering a situation that I couldn't wrap it around something, ie. pole, bench, tree, rock, kayak, statue, fire hydrant . . ..
I got a little remote for my camera and was able to take pictures of my wife and I in all sorts of situations! Definitely look for a remote if you will want proof of where you've been!
Only think missing this from getting 5 stars is the lack of a tripod head!! You will have to buy one because it is very hard to use the gorilla pod without it. I got a simple heavy ball mount for about $25.00 form my local camera store (couldn't seem to find a reasonable one online).
Certainly an awesome, very functional tripod!

I love my Gorillapod and would've given it 5 stars if it had a built-in level. I have a hard time getting the tripod level when I put it on the counter or the mantle to shoot video at family events. (We have 3 Great Danes so I rather set the camera safely above them on my Gorillapod instead of on a full-size tripod on the floor.) It takes awhile to get the camera setup straight since there is no built-in level on the head of the Gorillapod. Other than that, I love this tripod. I use this for my Rebel XT with zoom to get some very cool close-ups. The other great thing is that I can roll it into a ball and toss it in my camera bag. My 11-year-old uses it with her camera to shoot pictures of herself with friends and my 2-year-old has thoroughly tested its durability. It's worth $50, try it!

The Gorillapod is very handy and is the right size to pack in your bag. You have to be careful though about what size lens you have on your camera before using it, it's not very stable. You also have to find the right type of surface for it to rest on, such as a flat table top or some rocks. You also have to be careful about what you wrap it around for higher up work. It grips, but not well. I would recommend the product for a point and shoot or a light camera with a smaller lens, but not for a serious kit.

Tripod - Its worth the money. You can take your own photos or join the family on vacation without taking help of others. this fits literally anywhere. I used to face lot of problems to take group photo including me.
